Detailed Shipping Instructions.
Please follow these instructions to ensure the prompt and safe shipment of your coins, jewelry, and bullion items to Taber Numismatics.
(Note: If you have questions about the type of coins we buy and/or don't buy, please

1.
BEFORE mailing coins, jewelry, or bullion to Taber Numismatics, please contact us to pre-qualify your shipment plans.
- We need to be aware of incoming packages, and can give you an estimate of value to use when insuring your items during shipment.
Note: If you have already received an e-mail from Taber Numismatics (or have spoken to us), and we indicated that you can ship your items, then you are 'pre-qualified'. So, you can continue with the shipping instructions below.
- Please note that any items sent to us without being 'pre-qualified' first may not be eligible to receive our free appraisal and shipping services.
2. Once we confirm your shipment plans, we strongly recommend that you mail your package using Registered Mail with the U.S. Postal Service.
- Please insure your coins, jewelry, and/or bullion for their estimated value (or the amount that you feel is appropriate).
With registered mail, you can insure a shipment for up to $25,000. If your collection is worth more than this amount, you can use multiple registered mail shipments to fully insure the items. For example, if your collection is worth $50,000, you could split-up the items into two separate boxes, and insure each for $25,000.
There is also a 70 pound weight limit for registered mail packages. If your collection weighs more than this, you must split-up your items into separate boxes (that each weigh less than 70 pounds) and mail each as a separate registered mail shipment.
- If you'd like to use a different shipping provider or carrier (other than the US Post Office), you'll need to get approval from us first. Othewise, you may not be eligible for reimbursement of shipping charges.
- Taber Numismatics is not responsible for your items until we actually take delivery.
3. Prepare for shipment by packaging your coins, jewelry, and/or bullion, as follows...
- Secure your items inside a strong cardboard box.
You can usually get all the packing materials, including the box, at your local post office. Make sure to use plenty of packing material so the contents don't have room to move around in the box, or bang into other items, during shipment.
- Include a letter indicating your name, mailing address, telephone number and/or e-mail address. Also, please include a brief description, or inventory list, of the items you're shipping (or if you have been corresponding with us through e-mail, please enclose a copy of the last e-mail sent or received).
If you have a specific sell price that you are seeking, or a prior offer/appraisal value, please include that information as well.
- After taping the box(es) securely, make sure there are no mailing addresses visible on the outside of the box.
If there are, make sure to cover them up. Sometimes the Post Office will help you fix this by putting their own tape over the box when you're ready to mail it. If you're unsure, just bring it to the Post Office and they'll help you out.
Note: The Post Office needs to put special mailing tape on each box to help secure the contents. In some cases, if you put too much of your own tape on the box, they may not allow it to be sent as registered mail. One way to prevent this is to hold off on taping the box shut until you get to the Post Office and talk to the clerk.
4. Address your package to ...
S. Taber
PO Box 501
Shrewsbury, MA 01545
(Just to be extra safe, we're directing you to not write the full company name on the address label. This helps disguise the contents.)
5. Bring your package to the Post Office and pay to have it sent as registered mail, and fully insured.
6. Send us a message to confirm the shipment has taken place. You can use our Contact form, or give us a call.
Please indicate the shipping charges in this e-mail. We will reimburse reasonable shipping charges for sellers (based upon standard registered mail rates).
When we receive your shipment, we'll send you back a confirmation e-mail.
Shortly after receiving your shipment, usually the same day, not more than 2 business days, we'll contact you with our appraised value of your coins, jewelry, and/or bullion. This appraised value represents an immediate, cash offer to buy your items.
Please note that you will not receive a detailed, written appraisal for your items with this free service. We will, however, indicate the total appraised value of your shipment, which will represent our offer to buy. We're also happy to answer any questions you may have. (Comprehensive, written appraisals can be provided for a fee by contacting our office.)
If you accept our offer, we will send out a company check that day. This will include reimbursement for reasonable shipping charges you incurred.
If you decline our offer, we will promptly send back (mailed out within 2 business days) your shipment using registered mail, and fully insured. In this case, we will pay the return postage, but will not reimburse you for the shipping charges you paid to get your package to us. In this manner, you get a free appraisal, and we split the round-trip shipping charges.
If you have any questions about shipping or selling coins, jewelry, and bullion, please feel free to contact us.
I hope that we can be of service, and look forward to speaking with you. Have a great day!
Best Regards,
Scott Taber
